Occupation Certificates
What is an Occupation Certificate?
An Occupation Certificate is the formal advice from the Principal Certifying Authority that the development and all works associated with the development have been completed in accordance with the consent conditions, consent plans and the Building Code of Australia.
An Occupation Certificate must be issued by the Principal Certifying Authority on completion of the development and certifies that all works have been completed in accordance with the development consent conditions, consented plans and the BCA.
It is illegal to occupy or use a building or structure without an Occupation Certificate.
What is an Interim Occupation Certificate?
An Interim Occupation Certificate may be issued by the Principal Certifying Authority for a part of the development prior to the completion of all works. This may be utilised when the development is being carried out in stages.
