State Environmental Planning Policies (SEPP)

State Environmental Planning Policies (SEPPs) are planning controls put in place by the State Government. They deal with issues considered to have state significance. SEPPs are 'environmental planning instruments' (EPIs) under the NSW Environmental Planning & Assessment Act.

In preparing and assessing a development application a State Environmental Planning Policy can take precedence over, or can be applied in conjunction with, the requirements of a local environmental plan or a development control plan.
