Heritage in Pittwater

Heritage consists of those items which we as a community have inherited from the past and want to hand on to future generations. The community of Pittwater has a diverse heritage which is embodied in those items which are still remaining and can illustrate past human occupation and development of an area. 

The Pittwater area has a rich and diversified heritage which encompasses buildings, monuments, gardens, landscapes, archaeological sites, jetties, wharves in addition to the natural environment and Aboriginal heritage. Aboriginal relics and artefacts are primarily protected under the provisions of the National Parks and Wildlife Act, 1974. Listed heritage in Pittwater is mainly European in nature.
