Mona Vale General Cemetery is located in a peaceful bushland setting at 107 Mona Vale Road, Mona Vale (with vehicular access via Fazzolari Avenue). It is managed by Northern Beaches Council on behalf of the State Government.

The Cemetery contains over 6,000 grave sites and over 2000 memorial niches for cremated remains, including memorial gardens, family rock memorials and columbarium walls.

The grave sites are organised into a mix of faiths, including Anglican, Catholic, Uniting, Bahai and Latter Day Saints as well as Non-Sectarian. Sites for cremated remains have no religious affilliation.

The Cemetery is open every day of the year during daylight hours. Staff are generally at the Cemetery between 7am and 4pm Monday to Friday. Interments and burials generally take place between 9am and 3pm Monday to Friday.

In special circumstances burials and interments may be arranged on Saturday with prior approval, please contact Cemetery staff.

Cemetery News

AT-NEED purchases only at the present time

Due to the shortage of available grave sites in the current Cemetery layout, Council has decided to restrict the sale of graves in the cemetery to "AT NEED" only at the present time.

"PRE-NEED" sales may return later in the year, subject to the results of a Heritage Report, expected to be completed in August 2016, which may identify new areas that can be used for graves.

If you would like to register your interest in a "pre-need" grave, please contact Cemetery Admin on 02 9970 1341.

Friends of the Cemetery Gardening Group

Council is always seeking volunteers to join our "Friends of the Cemetery" group.

Council does not have the resources to maintain individual sites and over the years they can become overgrown and untidy.

Our volunteers are all keen gardeners who undertake light weeding and tidying up of these old and neglected graves.

Volunteers meet on the first and third Tuesday of the month from 8.30am to 11.30 with morning tea provided.

If you would like to join the group, please contact Cemetery Administration on 02 9970 1341 or email
