July Vacation Care

The July holidays will be an eleven day program. The program will run between Monday 13 July through to Monday 27 July. Bookings will open on Monday 22 June and close at 5pm on Friday 3 July.

The Online Booking Form, Parent Handbook and attached Enrolment Form will be available on this webpage from 9am Monday 22 June.

You can also collect a Parent Handbook and Enrolment Form from Council's Customer Service Centres at 1 Park Street, Mona Vale and 59 Old Barrenjoey Road, Avalon from Monday 22 June.

Hours

The service operates from 7.30 am to 6pm during school holidays but does not open between the end of the school year until the first week of January. 

The program is divided into Juniors (Kindy to Year 3) and Seniors (Year 4 to Year 6).  We are trialling Year 7 students this year and they are included within the Seniors age bracket.

Daily activities include art and craft, indoor/outdoor games and more.  Two excursions for all children are provided each week with an additional excursion for the Seniors.  At least one show or presentation such as a musician or Science Show visit the centre each week.  The Holiday Buzz is issued after each vacation care and provides a record of the program.  It also provides additional information for families.

Who can attend?

Children enrolled and attending Primary School are eligible to attend.  Currently children attend from a wide range of public and private schools in the area.  Families of children with additional needs are welcome to apply to our service.

Places

There are a maximum of 100 places available per day.  Bookings open for each holiday approximately 3 weeks before the end of the term prior to the holidays.  Places can be booked online during the two weeks after the opening of bookings but can also be made a Council Customer Service Centres at Mona Vale and Avalon.  For further information please view the Vacation Care Parent Handbook.

Staffing

Trained and experienced staff are employed to provide a safe, caring and nurturing environment that is fun for those attending.  The centre is staffed with a minimum of 2 staff at any one time and at a ratio of 1 staff member for every 15 children.

Food

Children are required to bring their own morning and afternoon tea and lunch however some cooking activities also occur regularly. 

Narrabeen Vacation Care is a NUT FREE ZONE.  We have many children with life threatening illnesses to nut products, so please no peanut butter, nutella or nuts.

Quality Assurance

We strive to ensure a quality program and continually improve our service.  In May 2006 we were awarded a high quality rating in all 8 quality elements of the National Childcare Accreditation Council (NCAC) Out of School Hours Quality Assurance (OSCHQA) program.

Cost of Care

$50 per day commencing January 2009 however all families are entitled to receive a discount on fees called Child Care Benefit (CCB).   Regardless whether you wish to claim CCB or not, you must register with the Family Assistance Office on 136150 and identify that you will be using the Narrabeen Vacation Care Service. Please quote our Customer Reference Number of 555 010 793V.   Please read the Letter to Parents regarding OOSH Services and the new Child Care Management System (CCMS) transition which is available to download from the Document Links box at the end of this webpage. This letter outlines the new national childcare system that will bring all approved childcare services online and will better meet the needs of families and the Government.

There is no payment required upfront for Vacation Care when booking.  At the end of the Vacation Care period, an invoice will be sent to you taking into account the correct Child Care Benefit and your utilisation of the service during the period.

Important Information:  Once you have submitted your application for Vacation Care, please note that NO changes to your booking will be accepted and there will be NO refunds or credits for any cancellations.
