Safety and crime can have a considerable impact on a community's well being. Creating a safe environment and preventing crime can only be achieved when effective partnerships are formed and the whole community works together.
Pittwater Council in partnership with Northern Beaches Police, local businesses, community groups and community members, have developed a Crime Prevention Plan in order to address crime and safety issues specific to the Pittwater area.

Community Engagement - Crime Prevention Through Education
Council implemented a program of education campaigns during 2005 with a focus on Break Enter & Theft; Domestic Violence and Sexual Assaul and the Reporting of Crime and Personal Safety. A range of resources were developed including posters to raise awareness of crime and the steps to prevent crime in the future.
Education messages were distributed to the community through local media, newsletters produced by organisations and schools and also through information displays at local shopping centres. Council will continue to disseminate information about crime prevention, especially through its website www.keepingpittwatersafe.com.au
