Help for Carers and Families
Are you providing support for someone who has a long term illness, disability, mental illness or is frail aged?
The following services can assist you in your support. Some services also provide support groups and information sessions.
Alzheimer’s Australia NSW
Alzheimer’s Australia NSW offers a wide range of free education, information and activities for family and friends and others caring for a person with Dementia. 8875 4682
Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre
Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centres are information centres for older people, people with disabilities and those who provide care and services. Centres provide free and confidential information on community aged care, disability and other support services available locally, interstate or anywhere within Australia.
You can call your nearest Centre using Freecall™ 1800 052 222*. Deaf, hearing impaired or speech impaired callers may call through the National Relay Service using their modem or TTY by dialling 1800 555 677 then asking for Freecall™ 1800 052 222*. Speech impaired callers may also call through Speech-to-Speech Relay by dialling 1800 555 727 then asking for Freecall™ 1800 052 222*. If you need an interpreter to assist you to contact your nearest Centre, telephone the Translating and Interpreting Service on 13 14 50. Information brochures printed in many different languages are available at your local centre.

Carers NSW
Carers NSW is an association for relatives and friends caring for people with a disability, mental illness, drug and alcohol dependencies, chronic condition, terminal illness or who are frail. They provide a free carer information, support and counseling service Monday to Friday 9 – 5pm on 1800 242 636
LifeCircle Australia
LifeCircle Australia (formerly, Home Hospice and Life Goes On) provides support and delivers mentoring and community learning programs for those who are terminally ill and their carers - 1800 132 229
