Courage in Lifesaving Award
Note: Council Report 7 July 2008 - That commencing in 2009 all Volunteer presentations be amalgamated into a single annual Pittwater Volunteer Awards Event to coincide with Volunteer Week in May with the following categories; Life Saving, Environmental, Bushcare, Youth, General and Organisational.
The Mayor of Pittwater’s Award for Courage in Lifesaving is presented each year to the senior and junior lifesavers deemed to have carried out the most courageous rescues of the season in Pittwater. It officially recognises the fantastic contribution made by our volunteer life savers.
The Award consists of a Pittwater Medal presented to the individual, as well as a Perpetual Shield presented to the recipient’s club. Promotion of the winner/s and their clubs will be made in various Council publications, including the fortnightly Council News Page in the Manly Daily and the Pittwater Report newsletter, which is distributed direct to 24,000 households.
Nominations cover the surfing season October - April. All submissions detailing rescues should be sent to Pittwater Council using the on-line application form by the month of June for the preceding surf season.
