Community survey results

Over the last few months we have been canvassing a number of ideas with residents on how to celebrate the birthday, with the survey results now in.

Some of the proposed suggestions showing a high level of interest include a ‘before and after’ photo display of Pittwater, an open day with sausage sizzle and kids entertainment, a ceremonial tree planting and a photo/video or writing competition called ‘My Pittwater’.

Here is a snapshot of community comments:

- "Something that caters for all sectors of the community. An event that attracts people from all ages and walks of life."
- "A community day, somewhere a bit more central like Winn Bay or Bilarong Reserve, with jumping castle for the children, a roving entertainer, face painting and food stalls and have photos there."
- "A big street party...or a family fun day on the beach with stalls, competitions, races, food etc."
- "I think an open day sounds lovely, however I wonder how easily accessible Currawong would be for the elderly/disabled?"
- "An event that allows for lots of people to gather and celebrate - Currawong is too far away and slightly inaccessible."
- "Write about and have photos of achievements of Pittwater Council in the last 20 years."
- "Have an oral history recording memories from those involved in the effort to achieve the new council."
- "All great ideas, how big is your budget???"

'Pittwater Rising' - The Making of Pittwater Council

Pittwater Rising is a tale of commitment, vigorous campaigning, colourful Councillors and compromise. To read the birth of Pittwater Council and the first ten years is to read of challenge upon challenge - to the landscape, to self-government, and to maintaining a peaceful life in a fast-paced city.
