Our Natural Environment & Education Unit provides a range of facilities, programs and information to develop community awareness and encourage participation. Feel a sense of satisfaction in seeing the gradual improvement of our environment amd play an active role in local environmental projects that aim to deliver cleaner beaches, healthier waterways, less air pollution and which support our local native wildlife.
Many of the services delivered by the Pittwater Library Service are delivered with the assistance of our skilled and enthusiastic volunteers. Projects that volunteers assist with at Mona Vale Library include shelf tidying; repairing books; contributing to the local studies collection with newspaper indexing, interviews and archival assistance; and delivering books to housebound members. Avalon Community Library is a community based organisation staffed by volunteers and a Library Officer employed by Council to co-ordinate their activities.
Volunteering in the Community
There are organisations which require volunteers to work within the Community Services areas.
Volunteer Reception
Nearly 150 Pittwater volunteers were treated to a civic reception in their honour at Mona Vale Golf Club on Tuesday 7 December. The Council hosts this event every year to say thank you to all our wonderful volunteers for the work they do.
