Newport Mainstreet Works Stage 2
Pittwater Council is finalising details with the successful contractor (Glascott Pty Ltd) to commence work at the Newport Commercial Centre (namely Stage 2 of the Newport Mainstreet Project) in approximately 3 weeks (end May 2009).
Work to be undertaken
- Landscaping of recently completed blisters in roadway;
- Installing trees along both sides of Barrenjoey Road;
- Pavement replacement to identified areas;
- Providing seats/bin/lights
Drawings
The drawings will be available:

at Council’s customer service centres at Mona Vale and Avalon; and

at Council's shop front.
Council's Shop Front
Details of the proposed work are currently on display at the Council shop front located at 343 Barrenjoey Road, Newport.
The Council shop front will be re-opened from Tuesday 26 May (Tuesday to Thursday) from 10am until 2pm to allow residents and local shopkeepers to view the plans at their convenience.
Early morning meetings will also be held on Wednesday 20 May and Thursday 21 May 2009 at 8am at the Newport Council shop front, where Council staff will be available to explain the planned work and timing of the project.
Council staff will also be available at the Newport shop front every Wednesday morning from 8am until 9am for the duration of the project to discuss issues and offer information.
Please Note
It is important that shopkeepers make themselves aware of the proposed work and how their shop frontage will be affected, so that the work can be completed with minimal disruption to their trading.
Once the contractor is close to commencing the work, a detailed works plan, with critical dates for each section of the work, will be provided to shopkeepers by Council.
Your attendance at the meetings is encouraged, as this will benefit the project as a whole.
