Community Workshop on Sand Point Boat Ramp
Residents and boat-owners are being invited to give their views on the future of the Sand Point boat ramp at Palm Beach.
The boat ramp, which is located in Iluka Road, is popular with residents and visitors but also home to important seagrass beds and a foreshore prone to erosion.
A community workshop is being held on Wednesday 22 February from 6.30pm at Avalon Recreation Centre to discuss concept designs for a new boat ramp.
The Council has engaged Manly Hydraulics Laboratory to undertake the study of the boat ramp and recommend possible improvements without causing adverse impacts to the foreshore and sea grass beds.
Three concept designs for an improved boat ramp have been developed and the workshop will seek to identify a preferred option.
“Our intention is to provide a ramp that will offer better access for small boats during low tide without adversely impacting on the natural environment of the area,” said Reserves & Recreation Manager Les Munn.
Mr Munn said larger vessels would continue to be prohibited at Sand Point and be directed to use the ramp at Rowland Reserve, Bayview.
Bookings are essential at the workshop; to reserve your seat phone 9970 1224 or email Janell_Keegan@pittwater.nsw.gov.au
