Pittwater Council granted Freedom of Entry to around 400 combined army, air force and navy cadets in a special ceremony held at Dunbar Park on 19 June 2010.

The Avalon Tattoo included displays from the armed forces, equipment demonstrations and a fly-past in a Navy Iroquois Helicopter.

Performances during the day included the NSW Police Pipe Band with Scottish dancers, the Rural Fire Service Pipe Band, local school bands, together with a number of marching bands.

The ceremony involved a march-past of the combined cadets from Training Ship Condamine, the 201 Army Cadet Unit and the 305 Squadron of the Australian Air Force Cadets from an area stretching from Canberra to Newcastle. The Mayor inspected the troops accompanied by the commanding officer of the cadet units, granted Freedom of Entry to Pittwater and then presented a ceremonial scroll to each unit.

After the ceremony the cadets met with representatives from the Rural Fire Service, the police and ambulance service and the armed forces.
