The Special Rate Variation Explained
To fund the $38 million program of works and infrastructure, Council needs to apply for a special rates variation. Beginning in July 2011, the proposed increase would be 5%, 4% and 3% each year over the existing rate structure for the next three years. The special rate variation, along with CPI increases in the years following, will provide a fully-costed $38 million program of infrastructure upgrades and on-the-ground works over the next ten years.
This 10 year program will meet the expectations of the community expressed through the strategic plan Pittwater 2020. It also reflects the results of Pittwater’s recent customer satisfaction survey and community workshops, conducted late last year by independent consultants.
If the rate variation is approved by the community and the State government, the additional funds will be allocated in the following ways:
