What will the special rate variation fund?

The special rate variation will help fund a fully-costed $38 million program of major capital works and infrastructure upgrades over a period of 10 years. Accountability and transparency in how the money is spent will be a cornerstone of the program.

Highlights

Based on the key directions of Pittwater 2020, highlights of the program include the following:

Integrating our Built Environment

  • $16.5 million allocated to building new roads and repairing existing ones, providing new foothpaths, drainage and roads for Scotland Island and more car parking.

Leading an Effective and Collaborative Council

  • $2.7 million for managing bushfire and flood risk; emergency management. 

Valuing & Caring for our Natural Environment

  • $10.5 million for beach, coastline & flood protection, water & energy saving initiatives, bushland protection and weed eradication, wildlife protection.

Supporting and Connecting our Community

  • $8.1 million for improvements to surf clubs, rock pools, wharves, sports fields and reserves. 

Enhancing our Working & Learning

  • $673,000 for library upgrades.
