Animals & Plants
The Pittwater Local Government Area is renowned for the great beauty and diversity of its natural environment. Pittwater's rich biodiversity is attributable in part to our proximity to large areas of undisturbed bushland in Ku-ring-gai Chase and Garigal National Parks. it is also a reflection of the diversity of geology, landforms, soils and vegetation communities in the area.
Such diversity combines to provide a varying range of habitats from estuaries, lagoons, wetlands and creeks, to a variety of eucalypt forests, littoral rainforest, woodland and heath communities. Pittwater provides habitat for over forty threatened species, populations and ecological communities.
