Council has designated the below bushland reserves as Wildlife Protection Areas to control the impact of feral and domestic animals on native fauna. These reserves have been designated as Wildlife Protection Areas in accordance with the Companion Animals Act 1998

Cats are prohibited in all Wildlife Protection Areas. Dogs are prohibited in Bangalley Head, Deep Creek Foreshore Reserve, Turimetta Headland and Warriewood Wetlands. In all other Wildlife Protection Areas dogs are permitted provided they are on a lead and stay on the designated path.

Cat Trapping

Cat trapping will be carried out in Wildlife Protection Areas in response to reports of domestic and feral cats harassing or killing native wildlife.

Native wildlife is particularly vulnerable to cat and dog predation as they have not developed effective defence mechanisms against these introduced predators.

Residents adjacent to the reserves will be notified and signs will be installed at the reserve entrances prior to the commencement of a trapping program.
