Welcome to the Coastal Environment Centre
Leading Community Learning for Sustainable Living in our Urban Coastal Environment
The Coastal Environment Centre (CEC) is a multi-award winning regional community environmental learning centre, and Pittwater Council's environmental flagship.
The CEC is committed to excellence in environmental education, and engaging our community in the transition towards a sustainable future. The Centre has a focus on local biodiversity and ecosystems, coastal management, sustainability and climate change. Our role is to enhance community skills, knowledge and engagement in caring for our urban coastal environment.
Last year, over 13,000 people took part in our programs. The CEC has a well-deserved reputation as a centre of excellence for environmental education, both nationally and internationally.
What's happening at the Coastal Environment Centre?
The CEC is your point of access to information about the environment, climate change and sustainable living. We offer enviro-talks, guided walks, curriculum linked excursions for schools, children's holiday programs and a specialist environmental information centre. Staff at the CEC can link you with groups working locally to care for our natual environment and for the transition to a sustainable future. As of June 2008, the CEC has had solar panels installed and is now working to develop a community program to reduce our carbon footprint.
