Annual Weed Spraying
We wish to advise residents that Council will be undertaking selective herbicide spraying throughout Pittwater.
Reserves, Sportsfields & Playgrounds
Please refer to the Herbicide Spraying Program which will advise of where spraying will be expected to take place.
- Sportsfields and Reserves will be signposted 1 hour prior to spraying.
- Reserves with Playground areas will be signposted 48 hours prior to spraying.

Aquatic Noxious Weed Program
Council wishes to advise residents that it will be conducting control of the aquatic noxious weed Ludwigia peruviana (Water Primrose) periodically from 27th February to 31st May 2012 in the areas listed below. On site signage will display the spray period and Council contractors will erect signage on site on the days of spraying.
- Nareen Wetland
- Warriewood Wetlands
- Irrawong Reserve
- Shearwater ponds, Shearwater Drive, Warriewood
- Narrabeen Creek, Warriewood Valley
- Mahogany Boulevard & Acacia Circuit, Warriewood Valley
- Upper Mullet Creek, Ingleside
Nufarm Amicide 500 or Amicide 625 herbicide will be applied by spot spray to the leaves. During the period stated please do not use, swim or allow pets to enter the water bodies listed above.
The herbicide used will be 2,4-D, present as 500g/L Dimethylamine salt or products containing 625g/L Diethanolamine & Treithanolamine Salts or Dimethylamine & Diethanolamine Salts. The herbicide will be applied by selective spot spray to the weed, minimising run-off and damage to other plants.
Under the Noxious Weeds Act 1993, Ludwigia is a class 3 Noxious Weed that all land owners have a responsibility to control. Ludwigia has the ability to choke waterways, and reduce biodiversity of our native flora and fauna. Ludwigia is very difficult to control and requires commitment to controlling the weed over many years to achieve success.
During the period stated please do not use, swim or allow pets to enter the water at the sites listed above.
