Corporate Volunteers
There are many possibilities for corporate volunteers to get involved in the Pittwater area.
Bush Regeneration
Corporate volunteers can help regenerate Coastal Dunes, Wetlands and Bushland Reserves. Volunteers can watch the native plants thrive, see the local native animals and learn about the ecosystem they are working in. Ideal for smaller groups.
Support
A site works plan will be developed with your group. A fully qualified and experienced Bush Regenerator will work with the group and share the knowledge relating to the site and bush regeneration in general. Recommended input from groups is 3 hours per session and monthly sessions (Councils understand this may not be every month).
Locations
Adopting a reserve (or part of one) near you fosters care, stewardship and connectedness with the surrounding nature. Choose from Bushland, Beach Dunes or Wetlands. Pittwater includes over 100 natural area reserve in Council care. Any of these can be part of a project. Generally Council recommends reserves that have resources currently allocated as this will ensure all works are complementary.
Corporate Planting Days
Corporate planting days and mass regeneration days are also possible. Such one-off events may require a long-lead time as plants have to be ordered. These are fun and informative days which are ideal for a larger group.
Short Courses
Pittwater’s Coastal Environment Centre has many short-courses (from hours to weekends) where knowledge about the local area can be gained through on-ground experience, guided talks and walks. Most are free with many run in evenings – Rock Platforms, Coastal Headlands, Surveying native animals, Weaving with Native Plants –learning from Indigenous Peoples, Identification of Local Plants and much more.
Sponsorship
Pittwater Council offers many sponsorship opportunities where resourcing can include input from your personnel, such as graphic design, marketing and more. Sponsorships of specific projects is available including many through the local sustainable-schools program.
