Poisonous and Allergenic Weeds

  • Asthma Weed (Pellitory)
    Asthma Weed pollen may cause asthma, conjunctivitis, rhinitis and hay fever. Contact with plants may cause skin rashes and other allergic reactions.
  • Castor Oil Plant
    The seeds of this plant are the EXTREMELY TOXIC and may cause an allergic skin reaction on contact and may be LETHAL if swallowed.
  • Camphor Laurel
    Poisonous.
  • Crofton Weed
    Poisonous to horses and access to the weed for as little as 8 weeks will cause sickness and permanent damage to the animals.  
  • Fireweed
    Toxic to cattle and horses.
  • Green Cestrum
    Highly poisonous to livestock, particularly cattle, and can be toxic to humans.
  • Inkweed
    Suspected of poisoning cattle.
  • Kochia
    Kochia has allelopathic effects on pasture and crop plan, and may be toxic to grazing animals.
  • Moth Vine
    The sap is acrid and causes severe discomfort if in contact with eyes or mucous membranes. 
  • Mother of Millions
    Highly toxic to stock.
  • Noogoora Burr
    Seeds are poisonous and the plant can cause contact dermatitis in animals and humans.
  • Privet - Broad Leaf and Small Leaf
    Highly allergenic and can cause asthma attacks, allergic rhinitis and hay fever.
  • Rhus
    This plant can cause severe dermatitis and swelling of the face if any part of the plant makes skin contact with the sap causing the most severe reaction.
  • Siam Weed
    Pollen and contact with the plant can cause hayfever and skin rashes in some people. This plant is toxic to stock.
  • Trad (Wandering Jew)
    The sap can cause dermatitis in humans and dogs
