There are three types of Moist Shale Forest:
1. Wet Gully/Creekline
Where is it found?
- Browns Bay
What plant species dominate it?
- E. paniculata (Grey Ironbark)
- A. floribunda (White Sally Wattle, Gossamer Wattle)
- E. punctata (Grey Gum)
- Coachwood
- Syncarpia glomulifera (Turpentine)
- E. umbra (Broad-leaved White Mahogany)
2. Turpentine/Ironbark Forest with rainforest understorey
Where is it found?
- in protected moister foreshore areas from Beaconsfield to Winji Jimmi
What plant species dominate it?
- E. paniculata (Grey Ironbark)
- A. floribunda (White Sally Wattle, Gossamer Wattle)
- E. punctata (Grey Gum)
- Allo. torulosa (Forest Oak)
- Syncarpia glomulifera (Turpentine)
- E. umbra (Broad-leaved White Mahogany)
- Guoia
- Cassine
3. Rainforest
Where is it found?
Along creeklines and in protected moist gully areas e.g:
- around Cabbage Tree Road
- Crown of Newport Reserve
- above McCarrs Creek Reserve
What plant species dominate it?
- Cabbage tree
- Coachwood
- A. smithii (Lilly Pilly)
- Rapanea sp
- Syncarpia glomulifera (Turpentine)
