Climate Change

Climate change refers to long-term changes in climate patterns. Climate change can be due natural variation or human induced activity. Burning of fossil fuels, l and clearing and agriculture are some examples of human activities that have led to an increase in the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and contributed, in part, to the increased average temperature of the Earth (global warming).

A Climate Change Risk Assessment has been prepared in order to meet the Waste and Sustainability Improvement Program (WaSIP) standards of 2011/12 for climate change. The Climate Change Risk Assessment process will help Council to identify opporunities to mitigate against greenhouse gas emissions and develop adaptation strategies to reduce the impacts of the climate change projections on Pittwater Council assets, operations and services.
