Wirreanda Creek

Wirreanda Creek is a tributary of McCarrs Creek. It runs from north of Mona Vale Road down to the main creek which flows into Pittwater. The upper section of the creek is three metres wide and becomes shallower as it moves downstream. The western side of this sub-catchment is mostly cleared for semi-rural use and includes an earthmoving/landscaping business, a dog pound, two recreational parks, horse paddocks and residential properties. The eastern side lies in the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park and the remaining area is made up of reserves and public land. The area suffers from weed infestation, and poor water quality. Stormwater is a major source of pollutants, as it carries runoff from roads and cleared land. A number of illegal weirs have been built across the upper reaches of the creek and a large number of properties illegally pump water from the creek.
