Wetlands
Pittwater is fortunate to support several different wetland environments, including the estuarine wetlands of Careel Bay and the coastal floodplain wetlands at Warriewood.
Once seen as wastelands to be drained, filled and developed, wetlands are now valued for their role in flora and fauna conservation, flood mitigation, water filtration, education and recreation.
Many wetland habitats are now recognised as endangered in NSW, emphasising the need for ongoing management and conservation.
