Books from other Libraries
Are you looking for a book but you cannot find it in the library catalogue? We may be able to obtain it for you from another library through the Inter-Library Loans co-operative.
What is an Inter-Library Loan?
The Inter-Library Loan service, otherwise known as Document Delivery, is a service offered among public, university and special libraries in Australia and overseas. If we do not have a book that you would like to borrow, we can search the collections of other libraries to locate the book and if it is available for loan, we can borrow the book on your behalf.
How does it work?
To be able to use this service you must be a member of Mona Vale Library. You request the book at Mona Vale Library by filling out a yellow request card in person at Mona Vale Library or you can complete the Inter-Library Loan Request on-line form.
If the book you requested is available, we will contact you when it is ready to be collected.
Please note that there are fees for an Inter-Library Loan, these are:
- $2.50 for a loan from a Public Library (this also covers our Administration costs whether the loan is successful or not)
- $19.00 for a loan from a University or Specialty Library.
When you have finished reading the book, please return it back to Mona Vale library and we will return it to the lending library.
Please note: If you are a member of another public library and wish to borrow one of our items please request it through your library.
