Borrowing
Mona Vale Library Members can use their card at Mona Vale and Avalon Libraries
- Members can borrow up to 20 items per card for 3 weeks
- Most items are available for 1 renewal period of 3 weeks
- Some items are available for 7 days only
- When borrowing books for school assignments, please borrow only 2 items from the subject area
How to borrow
There are two ways to borrow books at the library. Do-it-yourself loans (DIY), and at the service desk.
DIY Loans
There are 3 DIY terminals at the library. To use them:
- Click F1 to start
- Pick up the scanning gun and scan the barcode on your card
- Scan the Pittwater Library barcode on the item
- When finished, click F1 to print your docket
- Click Esc to finish
DIY Renewals
Using the DIY terminals follow these steps:
- Click F1 to start
- Pick up the scanning gun and scan the barcode on your card
- If you have the item with you then scan the barcode on the item. If not, type the barcode number of the item into the white box at the bottom of the screen
- Scan the Pittwater Library barcodeon the item
- When finished, click F1 to print your docket
- Click Esc to finish
Finding the Barcode
- Books the barcode is usually on the front cover of the book. If its not there then look on the first two pages inside the book.
- CDs the barcode is usually inside the case on the back of the sleeve. On some CDs the barcode is on the front.
- DVDs/Videos - the barcode is usually inside the case of the DVD. On some items the barcode appears on the front. When borrowing Videos the barcode appears on the tape itself.
- Talking Books the barcode is usually inside the case of the book. On some items the barcode appears on the front.
Returns
- Books can be returned to the library during opening hours.
- Out of hours returns are accepted in the "bins" located in Park Street outside the library entrance.
