National Mental Health Week 2008

The theme for this year‘s Mental Health Week is ‘Appreciate the little things in life’ and forms a three year campaign called Building Resilience run by the Mental Health Council of Australia. Pittwater Council will mark National Mental Health Week with a number of stress-free events.

Activities will include:

  • A free 2.5 km guided walk through the Katandra Sanctuary at Ingleside on Wednesday 8 October from 10am to 12pm. Katandra is a sanctuary for flora and fauna, with the moderately easy walk taking in attractive original Hawkesbury sandstone habitat.
  • A free Tai Chi class will also be held on Friday 10 October at Mona Vale Library at 11am. The class will be taken by local instructor Neil Meyers.

For bookings please call Mona Vale Library on 9970 1600.

According to the Mental Health Council, ”the campaign is about developing individual strengths and abilities to bounce back from setbacks and challenges.

“Resilience doesn’t make problems go away, but can provide us with the ability to think positively, see past the challenges, enjoy life and handle stressors better”.
