Membership

Anyone who lives or works in Pittwater can become a member of Mona Vale and Avalon Library.  The Library is fully accessible.

Eligibility

  • To be eligible to join, you must show proof of your name and current address.
  • There is no age restriction on joining the library. If you are under 18 years of age you must have your application signed by a parent or guardian. The guardian must provide their proof of name and current address.
  • For children born in Pittwater during the last 12 months can be joined from birth as BookBabes.

What to do next

  • Complete an online membership form. You will be issued with a temporary library card number.
  • Bring the temporary library card number with your proof of name and address to the service desk at Mona Vale or Avalon Library and your card will be issued on the spot.
  • Start borrowing.

 Please notify Library Staff of any address changes or update your details online by login into My Details.

Conditions of Membership

  • I understand that it is my responsibility to ensure that all items borrowed on my card are returned by the due date and are not damaged.
  • I agree to accept charges incurred from overdue, lost or damaged items and item reservation fees, as set out in Council’s Management Plan.
  • I understand that I am responsible for the actions and behaviour of any minor for whom I am signing, and agree to pay any fees or costs incurred by them.
  • I understand that when I am using the Library I must abide by the Library’s Code of Conduct, requiring me to respect the rights of other patrons and comply with staff directions.
  • I agree to abide by the Library Act (1939) and Regulations (2000) which state that: “A library staff member may direct any person to leave the library and not re-enter the library for such a period as the staff member directs, if the staff member is of the opinion that…the person’s condition, conduct, dress or manner is likely to give offence to any other person’s use of the library”
  • I agree to abide by Copyright Laws when accessing Library materials.
  • I understand that my borrowing rights will be suspended if I do not follow Library rules
  • I will advise the Library immediately if I change my address or lose my card
