Community Centre and Holiday Activities
School holiday activities
Each school holidays, Council creates a brochure outlining the courses and activities for children that are being held at the Centres and also by other external groups.
Our community centre network provides a wonderful opportunity for residents and visitors to participate in a wide range of social, recreational and cultural activities. These activities are held in Council's centres and are generally run by external contributors who offer their actitivies to the general public.
Council's Centres are Avalon Recreation Centre, Elanora Heights Community Centre, Mona Vale Memorial Hall, Kitchener Park Sports Centre, North Narrabeen Community & Tennis Centre, Nelson Heather Centre, Ted Blackwood Narrabeen Youth & Community Centre and the Scotland Island Community Centre.
The 2017 combined brochure will be published late December. The brochure outlines available activities for adults and children covering the themes:
- Personal Development, Education & General
- Martial Arts
- Community Groups
- Art & Craft
- Music & Drama
- Health, Relaxation & Fitness
- Events, Workshops & Exhibitions
For each School Vacation period, Council produces its Holiday Recreation Program which will outline the activities run at the contributing Centres and also advertise external holiday programs being held locally such as Surf Camps, Art classes, Sport & Recreation programs and computer workshops. Avalon Recreation Centre has a large selection of activities on offer, everything from Martial Arts to Jewellery making. North Narrabeen Community & Tennis Centre run a Tennis Camp and a fun multi-sports and movement program designed for children. Council's Coastal Environment Centre offer their Coastal Explorer's program which investigates the sand, dunes and various wildlife as well as offering art programs along their environmental themes.
We have provided the current Program brochure in PDF format which you can download from the Document Links section at the end of this page or collect from Council's Customer Service Centres in Mona Vale or Avalon or the participating Community Centres.
