Speed - Slow Down Pittwater
Slow Down Pittwater Speed Reduction Campaign
Speed played a part in 17% of all accidents in the Pittwater area during 2010 which resulted in one person being killed and a further eight people requiring hospital treatment. Compare this with the Sydney Region, in which speed played a part in 10% of all accidents during 2010, you can see the importance of communicating the slow down message to the community.
During May 2012, the Slow Down Pittwater campaign will target three local streets which have a posted speed limit of 50km/h and which have a reported speed problem. Slow Down Pittwater will involve:
- Media and bus shelter advertising using the "Speeding? You're in our sights" message.
- Banners displayed in key locations using the "Speeding? You're in our sights" message.
- Mobile speed display message board advising a road safety message related to speeding.
- Police enforcement (where possible).
- Slow down bin stickers provided to all residents on streets selected for the campaign.
Streets that have been selected for the slow down campaign this year are, Powderworks Road, Garden Street - North Narrabeen and Nareen Parade - North Narrabeen.
If you would like your street considered in future years for the Slow Down Pittwater speed reduction project, please call the Road Safety Officer on 9970 1196.
