Road Classification

Roads within Pittwater are divided into the following categories.

Classified Main Road - Roadways under the care and control of the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) - Wakehurst Parkway, Pittwater Road, Mona Vale Road, McCarrs Creek Road and Barrenjoey Road.

Council remain responsible for footpaths and verge maintenance along classified Main Roads.

Regional Road - Roads under the care and control of Council with part funding provided by the RTA - Powderworks Road, Garden Street (Pittwater Road to Powderworks Road) and Darley Street (Barrenjoey Road to Pittwater Road).

Local Roads - Roads under the care and control of Council with funding provided by the Council.
