Recreation

Pittwater has a vast array of leisure and recreation areas including surf beaches, bushwalking, park and playgrounds, and sports facilities.  Boating is a predominant recreation activity for many Pittwater residents and visitors alike with one of the most accessible public waterways on the east coast of New South Wales.

Activities for children and the responsibility of hirers.  Hirers of Council's parks, reserves, sporting ovals and beaches for the purpose of conducting activities  for children are bound by NSW Child Protection Legislation.  Clubs and service providers are required to undertake Working With Children Checks and implement Prohibited Employment Declarations for all persons working directly with children.  Further information regarding your obligations can be found on the following links: Working with Children Check, NSW Sport and Recreation: Child Protection, NSW Interagency Guidlines for Child Protection Intervention.

There are many boating facilities in the Pittwater area.  These include wharves for recreational, commuter and commercial purposes, boat storage for dinghies, large boats and boat tie-up at wharves, moorings and boat ramps

The ocean coastline of the Pittwater Local Government Area is approximately 18 kilometres long - extending from Barrenjoey Headland in the north to the Narrabeen Lagoon entrance in the south.
